A delicious immunity boost that helps when you’re sick and helps prevent you from getting sick. Enjoy a spoonful everyday in winter to help keep your immune system strong. This recipe is adapted from HappyHealthyMama.com.
1. In a large pot, bring the elderberries, water, cinnamon, cloves, & ginger to a boil.
2. Reduce the heat to low and allow to simmer until the liquid has reduced by about half. This will take around 30-40 minutes.
3. Drain the liquid using a fine mesh sieve or cheese cloth, pressing all liquid out of the berries using the back of a spoon or rubber spatula.
4. Pour your liquid into a jar (I used a 2 cup mason jar) and allow to cool until just slightly warm (anything less than 110F is good, we just want to make sure to not add too much heat to the honey as it will kill the beneficial enzymes).
5. Once liquid is just slightly warm, add the raw honey and mix well/shake until it’s all dissolved.
6. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two months. I like to store in the back of the fridge (the coldest part for most fridges).
7. Enjoy a spoonful a day for a natural, delicious immunity boost!
